                   Did you know?

  • Some parents and guardians in Kenya do not accept their children with disabilities and strongly wish they would die. They hide and starve these children.

  • Approximately 90 to 150 million children today are living with disabilities.

  • Around 33% of street children have disabilities.

  • Mortality rate for children with disabilities is as high as 80% in some developing countries.

  • About 90% of children with disabilities do not attend school.

  • Some schools in Kenya reject enrolling children with disabilities.

About the Enable and Empower Program

At the Mamasafi Foundation, we are dedicated to providing equal opportunities and comprehensive support for over 200 individuals with disabilities in our region. Our program is designed to address the unique challenges faced by these individuals and their families, ensuring they receive the care, resources, and opportunities they deserve.

Our Activities:
  • Education and Inclusion: We strive to ensure that children with disabilities have the same opportunities as their peers, including access to education. We facilitate their enrollment in schools and provide necessary resources to support their learning.

  • Community Engagement: We hold regular meetings at our community center where individuals with disabilities and their caregivers can discuss the challenges they face. These sessions are vital for sharing experiences, learning about inclusion, and receiving guidance on proper care.

  • Resource Provision: We supply essential resources such as wheelchairs, walking sticks, crutches, sticks for the visually impaired, and hearing aids. Our goal is to enhance the mobility and independence of those we serve.

  • Home Visits: For those unable to attend our community center due to transportation issues, we conduct home visits. During these visits, we deliver necessities and check on their well-being, ensuring they are not left behind.

Anytime, Anywhere

We aim to create an inclusive community where individuals with disabilities are actively involved and supported. To achieve this, we are raising funds to purchase an accessible van. This van will greatly improve the mobility of our members, enabling them to attend school, participate in community activities, and access essential services.
